The Northeast Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center is one of ten AgResearch and Education Centers focused on improving Tennessee agriculture. Our location in Greene County, the state’s largest tobacco-producing county, is ideal for conducting tobacco research.
Research is also conducted on forestry and woody ornamentals. The Center also participates in UT’s Vegetable Initiative, which is directed toward helping growers diversify their operations.
Beef cattle research is an important part of the Center’s research program. A team of scientists from several disciplines is examining the economic aspects of different management systems for cow-calf production.
Through these research programs, field days, and other events and activities throughout the year, the Center works to serve the needs of Upper East Tennessee agriculture.
